Stage lifting, redefined
Combined with Stagemaker product ranges, Verlinde also continues to meet the specific requirements of stage lifting, constantly adapting to the evolving demands of the events and entertainment industry.
The strength of the pioneering spirit
For several decades, our two strong brands — Verlinde and Stagemaker — have supported the major developments in industrial and stage lifting. Born at the heart of their respective markets, they were built in response to the concrete needs of users and have, over time, helped to structure practices and set standards in their industries.
1858
The origin of industrial lifting
Founded by Léon Verlinde, the company designs and manufactures bearing supports, couplings, and transmission pulleys to distribute the power of steam engines to industrial equipment. This early mastery of power transmission forms the technical foundation on which modern lifting was built.
1872
A decisive milestone
Auguste Verlinde, the founder's nephew, invents and patents a worm-gear hoist. This device quickly achieves significant success and is adopted by the Navy and the Engineering Corps — positioning Verlinde as a pioneering player that not only supported but also created and structured the field of industrial lifting.
1956
Growth and specialisation
The company continues its growth in France and internationally, specialising in the manufacture of lifting equipment, electric chain hoists and overhead cranes. These years are marked by numerous patents, including disc brakes, articulated bridges, and several products in the hydraulics field.
1975
The birth of Stagemaker
Verlinde revolutionizes the lifting world by launching the first hoist dedicated to the entertainment industry. Designed for concert tours, theaters, and performance venues, its remarkable features open new creative possibilities for lighting and motion solutions. This marks the beginning of the Stagemaker adventure!
~1985
Joining KONECRANES
About ten years later, Verlinde and its Stagemaker brand join the Finnish group KONECRANES, gaining access to a global industrial network while preserving the heritage and expertise built over more than a century.
